My name is Joey, I live in a city called Norwich in the UK and I am an enormous sports enthusiast. I live with my beautiful wife Sophie, my gorgeous son Jaxson, and the two best cats in the world, Leo and Luna.
I grew up in Essex, always getting involved in sports clubs, school sports teams and things like that. My Dad would take me to football matches at Colchester United, and we’d watch rugby, tennis, golf etc. I was very fortunately to be raised by wonderful parents.
After the usual route of primary school, secondary school and college, I took a year out to move to New Zealand to work in a school. I played and coached rugby, whilst helping with the school’s boarding hostel. My responsibility generally was around leading the sports activities after school and on the weekends, whilst also doing a lot of the usual assisting stuff like helping in the classrooms, offices and things like that. After my year was up, I then returned to go to the University of Bedfordshire where I studied Sport and Physical Education.
All of this led me to a career completely unrelated to sport, but something I am still very proud of. However, I still need that outlet for my sporting interest, and that’s one of the things that led me to The Sports Hall.
I have a blog on this website explaining why I started The Sports Hall – see ‘It All Started in The Sports Hall’ – but a quick explanation is that I have an enormous interest in sports, especially American ones like American Football (NFL) and Basketball (NBA). I have opinions, feelings and thoughts about what’s going on in those leagues, but I don’t really have anyone to share it with. So, I decided to start this blog to write about it.
I hope you enjoy reading the posts. There is no set method behind it all, it’s just writing about what I want to write about at that time.
